Community Use Guidelines and Terms of Use

This site is provided as a service for the members of International Positive Psychology Association. International Positive Psychology Association is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by others.

THE IPPA COMMUNITY PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” WE DISCLAIM ALL CONDITIONS, REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES NOT EXPRESSLY SET OUT IN THESE TERMS. THIS DISCLAIMER INCLUDES ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS.

In no event shall International Positive Psychology Association be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site.

At IPPA, we strive to create an environment that welcomes, values, serves, and effectively utilizes the diverse experience, perspectives and voluntary contributions of our members. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.

By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. You also agree to only post discussions and shared files and content best suited to the medium. This is a great medium through which to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. In order to preserve an environment that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violate these rules. If you have questions, please contact the member services department via the
ContactUs link on this site.

The Rules

  • Respect others. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Remember, IPPA members are a diverse group of people from various professional disciplines and countries around the world. In all discourse, show respect to your fellow colleagues for the diversity of experience in our international global community. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members.

  • Respect the purpose of the community. Use the community to contribute to our shared collective learning. Share successes, challenges, evidence, constructive feedback, questions, and goals instead of products or services that you provide or other content that does not generally relate to the field of positive psychology. If you’ve found a product or service helpful, please share your experience with the group in a respectful way.

  • Respect intellectual property. Post content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator. Refrain from reproducing or making copies of proprietary content, or distributing content through print, digital, broadcast or social media channels, except when otherwise indicated, or without the express written consent of the owner. When referencing work use the appropriate citations.

  • Respect membership confidentiality, Do not use or distribute member information outside of this platform or for any personal gain.

  • Use caution when discussing products. Information posted on the discussion groups and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.

  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials or language are strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violate these rules.

  • When posting items in our collaborative environment, please indicate if the item is not available for reuse. It’s also advisable to contact the owner of any material if you would like to reuse it.

  • Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate groups. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response by keeping the community organized.

  • Adhere to all professional guidelines as outlined in IPPA's Member Code of Conduct.

Discussion Group Etiquette

  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.

  • Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.

  • Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” to the group. Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing email addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin under your new email address. Simply change your settings.

  • Maintain awareness of cultural differences and the diverse, international nature of our community.

Products, Promotions and Offers - Offering services or product to IPPA members

The purpose of this community is to share knowledge and facilitate connection and collective learning. IPPA members should refrain from "marketing" their companies, products or services in the discussion boards. However, IPPA members who own a product or company and have the authority to promote and/or offer discounts to IPPA members as a good faith added benefit of membership may do so by posting in dedicated location (the Deals and Discounts thread in the general member discussion board). Contributors and members acknowledge that IPPA has not passed on, reviewed or made any recommendation or endorsement with regards to any of the content contained within this section. Contributors acknowledge that they have the authority to offer the deal and are solely responsible for fulfillment of the posted offer. Contributor has the responsibility to remove the offer if the time limit has expired. IPPA Admins have the right to remove expired or inappropriate items. (See legal policy in terms of service below).
