Editorial Assistant Job Description
Overview: The Editorial Assistant is responsible for supporting the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor on several aspects of the publication, with special emphasis on providing copy-editing services, coordinating member announcements, and coordinating the publication production process with IPPA's web and graphic designer.
Coordinating interviews, book reviews, andannouncements.Support the AE in conducting or assigning interviews and book reviews for the publication, and coordinate directly with W&O division leadership to gather division and member announcements for the publication.
Support publication copy-editing and formatting.Work with the AE to prepare a MS Word document for production consistent with the predetermined formatting guidelines. This includes copy-editing all content and ensuring that all bios, pictures and graphs are gathered and provided to IPPA's web designer.
Attend regular meetings. The AE attends regular meetings with the Editor-in-Chief to discuss the strategy of the publication, ideas for improvement, technology,and other innovations.Additional duties may be assigned as required.
1.Familiarity with peer-review editorial process and strong writing skills for academic outlets
2.Expertise and knowledge of positive psychology in the context of work and organizations
3.Fluent in APA writing style
4.Evidence of graduate training or professional development in positive work and organizations
5.Experience serving as editor of academic/professional publication or publication outlet is a plus
